I have just returned from another wonderfully productive
trip in Kenya. I was blessed to be joined by two of my favorite friends in the
world Bobby Worthington and Kevin Warstler. They have such a heart for the work
in east Africa and have continued with me in faithfulness. We were also joined
by five tremendous men who worked so hard to share the gospel and encourage our
African brothers and sisters. Pastor Matt Ward, Mike Samuels, Zach Reynolds,
Owen Armstead, and Jacob Sessions were such a blessing and served tirelessly
for the sake of Jesus. We worked to help one new church get started in a
totally new area in south Ruiru (suburb of Nairobi). This new church will be a
plant from FBC Ruiru (pastor Samson Kisia). The new church has a good core
group and will be lovingly served by Pius Nato. They decided to name the new
church “Criswell Baptist Church” because our visiting team is all from Criswell
College. Pius is a great man with whom I have been working for many years and
he will serve them well. We also had 62 pastors and church leaders come for the
training of the Bible College. There were people from Kakamega, Tanzania,
Tharaka, Bungoma, Taveta, Kajado, Nairobi, Nakuru, Busia, and the Democratic
Republic of Congo. It is especially rewarding for me to see the church leaders
that continue to come from each of the areas where we have done evangelism and
church planting. The continuing relationships are what we have been working
toward since the beginning of this ministry. We work to start new churches,
train leaders who will teach others also, and then continue to see those
churches grow. This biblical approach to missions is really what this ministry
is all about and its working. We will have an evangelism team going back to
Taveta in September 2016 and more info will be coming about other 2016 trips. With
careful praise to the One from whom all blessings flow let me also say thank
you for your support of Gateway East Africa.
